Ruth chapter 1

1:1-3.

Elimelech, driven by famine into Moab, dies there.

1:4-5.

Mahlon and Chilion, having married wives of Moab, die also.

1:6-7.

Naomi, returning homeward,

1:8-13.

dissuades her two daughters-in-law from going with her.

1:14-18.

Orpah leaves her, but Ruth with great constancy accompanies her.

1:19-22.

They two come to Beth-lehem, where they are gladly received.

Ruth chapter 2

2:1-3.

Ruth gleans in the field of Boaz.

2:4-7.

Boaz takes notice of her,

2:8-17.

and shews her great favour.

2:18-23.

That which she got, she carries to Naomi.

Ruth chapter 3

3:1-4.

By Naomi's instruction.

3:5-7.

Ruth lies at Boaz's feet.

3:8-13.

Boaz acknowledges the right of a kinsman.

3:14-18.

He sends her away with six measures of barley.

Ruth chapter 4

4:1-5.

Boaz calls into judgment the next kinsman.

4:6-8.

He refuses the redemption according to the manner in Israel.

4:9-10.

Boaz buys the inheritance.

4:11-12.

He marries Ruth.

4:13-17.

She bears Obed, the grandfather of David.

4:18-22.

The generations of Pharez unto David.
